Team IGA has raised more than $4,500 for the Launceston Relay for Life event, held Saturday and Sunday 4th & 5th March 2017. The funds raised by Team IGA is in addition to IGA Tasmania’s “Relay for Life” Principal Partnership and the “Catch it Early” Facebook campaign totalling $15,200.
Relay for Life is more than a fundraiser with the community coming together to show support for loved ones. Thank you to all involved for your support to help the team raise these funds and a big thank you to all the other teams that help push this year’s total to over $165,000.
It’s great to know all funds raised stay in Tasmania, directly assisting the Cancer Council Tasmania with the support and other services that it provides to so many Tasmanian’s that are diagnosed and impacted by Cancer.
Relay For Life began in Australia in 1999 when the Victorian community of Murrumbeena raised over $75,000 for Cancer Council. Relays are now held in every Australian State and Territory, with more than 134,000 participants raising over $24 million each year. Every dollar raised goes towards funding Cancer Council’s vital research, prevention and support programs, many of which help people in your community every day.
