Vinnies Van

IGA wish to congratulate the St Vincent de Paul Society after launching their 'Vinnies Van' in Launceston last week.

The Vinnies Van will be Launceston's sole soup van service offering cold beverages, soup meals, sandwiches and fruit.

St Vincent de Paul Society's state president, Toni Muir believes the van will meet the immediate need of many people.

"We found there was a gap of people who all of a sudden found they had no food in their cupboards and also there were a lot of people who were homeless in the area, that's because of lots of issues; loss of employment, people not being able to afford stable accommodation so they move around.

IGA Tasmania have supported the St Vincent de Paul Society for many years through the Charity Relief campaign and are proud to be associated with this fantastic service.

Vinnies Van was officially launched this morning in Launceston and will be out and about on the streets on Saturday 17th October. A big thank you to all who attended the launch this morning.
