IGA Life is a magazine for Tasmanian IGA customers that informs and educates. This is the second issue of IGA Winter Life and showcases local producers, delicious recipes, some of our local IGA retailers, community organizations and charities.
Because Tasmania enjoys incredible local fresh produce, this issue follows the journey from the ‘Paddock to Plate’. Our local lamb and beef which is free of hormone growth promotants provides meat for the higher end of the market which means that Tasmania’s IGA shoppers have access to top quality products. Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association CEO Jan Davis said “We’ve got some of the best climate and soil combination of just about anywhere to raise most food products but particularly our meat”
‘Meet your local grocer’ provides a platform to personalise some of the local IGA retailers. A number of Tasmania’s retailers have a long history in their local community, some dating back more than 100 years. IGA Queenstown owner, Phil Evans, still runs the store that his great grandfather bought 113 years ago.
‘Giving back to the locals’ is a feature to remind IGA customers that when they shop at their local IGA, funds are returned to their local community. Tasmania’s IGA retailers are proud of the support they’ve provided to young sports people and a wide range of local charities including City Mission, St Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army and the Benevolent Society as well as local athletics and swimming clubs.
IGA Life is produced by a small dedicated team of Tasmanian Independent Retailers staff who find the extra time to assemble this quality publication. TIR Merchandise General Manager, Ron Barker has been responsible for the production for both editions. “Our team has done an excellent job of collecting articles, editorials and advertising. As with the previous issue of IGA Life, all proceeds go to charity with Legacy and Camp Quality being the beneficiaries.” he said.
IGA Life is on sale at Tasmania’s IGA stores and is produced by Tasmanian Independent Retailers.
