Week Commencing Monday 14th May 2012
Avocadoes
New season Hass are now available and in full swing, steady supplies now available and hitting the markets, quality is excellent and expect prices to ease this week.
Bananas
A slight improvement in supply is expected this week, prices should ease but quality remains only average.
Beans Green
Expect to firm in price with Victorian season nearly finished, supply now coming from Queensland.
Broccoli
Colder weather is slowing the growth of Victorian crops causing a shortage with supply, price is firming and quality becoming inconsistent, will remain this way until winter crops become available.
Button Squash
Victorian season now finished and a short supply only available from Northern States, prices are very high and quality only average.
Capsicum
Now supplying Bundaberg Red and Green Capsicum, quality is poor with crops suffering damage from recent heavy Queensland rains, expect to see improve supply shortly.
Cauliflower
Expect to see supply dry up next week, cooler weather is slowing harvesting, although quality will remain good.
Corn
Victorian season now finished , only moderate supply of Queensland grown product now hitting the market prices are firm with improvement expected shortly as more Queensland grown product becomes available.
Grapes
White Grapes are again expected to firm in price with supply slowly coming to a end, crimson seedless are a much better option with prices reasonable.
Lettuce
Good supply now from NSW and Queensland, quality is good and prices expected to ease.
Mandarins
Great supply of Queensland grown Imperials still available. Quality is excellent with prices remaining steady.
Melons
Continuing light supply and very high prices for; Melon Lines including Watermelon, Rockmelon and Honeydew, only buy as quality is also only fair.
Oranges
Very good supply of new season Navels now available, buy in either 15kg cartons or 3kg Bags, quality is excellent.
Tomatoes
A large gap in supply as Victorian season now finished, Bowen season yet to begin harvesting and Bundaberg season effected by recent heavy rains and cool weather. Quality is only average, supply is expensive, expect to remain this way for the next couple of weeks.
