About TIR

Tasmanian Independent Retailers (TIR) is a trading division of Tasmanian Independent Retailers Co-Operative Society Limited.

The Society was formed in 1947 by a group of independent traders to improve their buying power and improve service and prices to customers.

The same philosophy applies today albeit the size of the Society and the members it represents has grown significantly since its inception.

Mission Statement

Tasmanian Independent Retailers primary role is to assist its owner/members to compete effectively in the Tasmanian retail market.

We also provide the necessary tools to enable them to meet all statutory regulations to ensure that the IGA Brand is respected in the Tasmanian market as providing quality, value and long term investment and job opportunities for Tasmanians.

Co-Operative Structure

Tasmanian Independent Retailers Co-Operative Society Limited is the ultimate controlling entity.

Membership of the Society is restricted to those persons / body corporate entities that meet the active membership requirements in accordance with our rules and the Co-Operative Act (TAS) 1999 (more)
